We’ve all been there—our bathrooms are overflowing with things we didn’t remember we had. And yet, it’s easy to buy more products on our never-ending quest for the “best” lotion, hair gel, or mascara. Although some mysteries will never be solved (Shouldn’t all toothpastes do the same thing?), we can help you with some simple ways to organize a bathroom. See if any of these tips might work for you.

Limit countertop clutter

Your bathroom counter is prime real estate. Limit what’s out in the open to only the items you use daily, like your toothbrush, soap, and maybe a touch of decor. Everything else? Decide what you need to keep, consolidate half-empty bottles, recycle what you can, pop things into clear bins or a caddy and stash them in a drawer or cabinet.

Use drawer and cabinet organizers

Bathroom drawers and cabinets can quickly turn into a black hole of tangled beauty products and oddball items. Your goal is to store like items together for easy access without lots of time spent searching. Use drawer organizers to keep everything from razors to cotton swabs neatly separated. Depending on the configuration of your cabinets, you may need specialized storage solutions. For example, does the water pipe dip down and take up space? If so, invest in under sink organizers with pull outs or shallow bins.

Leverage vertical space with shelving

In a small space like most bathrooms, every inch of storage matters. Install shelves or a cabinet above the toilet or on the wall to make use of vertical space. This is perfect for storing extra rolls of toilet paper, toiletries, or a few extra washcloths. It’s a great way to keep essential items close while saving precious counter and floor space.

Create a “daily essentials” basket

Designate a basket or caddy for all your daily must-haves. Think of it as the go-to hub for your most-used products. Place it on a shelf or in a drawer where it’s easy to grab.

Rely on clear bins

When it comes to storing back-stock items, we recommend clear bins. Use them to organize everything from extra toiletries to cleaning supplies. If you can see what’s inside, it will help keep everything organized and you’re less likely to forget about it—or accidentally buy duplicates. Anything not in a clear bin should be clearly labeled.

The idea here is to make your bathroom space work better for you and streamline your daily morning routine, so you’re not frazzled before your day even starts.

Work hard and be kind, clutter sorters!
